The language is simple, vivid, and authentic, published with English annotations, which preserves the original essence of English while the bilingual annotations (Chinese-English) remove language barriers for readers, fully engaging their interest in reading and making English reading easier. Jane Eyre is one of the most popular works in British literature. Its author, Charlotte Bront?, was born on April 21, 1816, as the third child in her family. Her younger sister Emily Bront? wrote the famous Wuthering Heights. Her younger sister Anne Bront?'s works include Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Charlotte worked in several jobs. In 1839, among the few opportunities available to educated young women, she found a position as a governess. However, it was a job filled with hardship and loneliness: governesses could neither interact with the masters of the household nor with other servants. This lonely and overlooked life is deeply depicted in Jane Eyre. As the longest-living among her siblings, Charlotte continued writing, producing Shirley and Villette. In 1854, Charlotte married Arthur Nicholls, but their marriage was short-lived. Charlotte died on March 31, 1855, at the age of 39.
