This original English reading material, imported from overseas, fully stimulates teenagers' rich imagination through fairy tales, science fiction stories, and school, cultivating their excellent qualities such as being clever, brave, strong, confident, and helpful. It further broadens students' horizons, organically combining language learning with cultural enrichment and inspirational education, which is rarely seen in English reading materials imported domestically in recent years. To help some readers overcome difficulties and increase interest, a Chinese "plot summary" is provided before each story; extracts of popular and practical English sentences among teenagers, such as "Read a Story, Learn Spoken English," are included at the end of the book; teachers or parents can guide students in reading activities around "Reading and Thinking Questions." Key vocabulary and language points in the stories are listed as footnotes at the bottom of the pages, and a detailed "Word Index" is also provided at the end of the book. This series is suitable for second-year junior high school students. Lily's best friend Ben mysteriously disappeared, and she couldn't believe it. The last time Lily saw Ben was on the way to the Invenita Pet Shop with him, where Ben planned to buy fish food. The police and Lily's parents believed Ben was kidnapped, but Lily suspected it had something to do with the pet shop's owner—she might be a witch! Especially suspicious was the new puppy added to the pet shop, whose fur color was almost identical to Ben's hair. Lily decided to venture into the "den" alone to find Ben.
