Can ectopic pregnancy be inherited?

Patient's question:

My sister had an ectopic pregnancy before and then she had surgery. Does ectopic pregnancy have a generational inheritance?

Doctor's answer:

Ectopic pregnancy is generally confirmed through a detailed ultrasound examination of the uterine appendages. If no gestational sac is observed within the uterus and a gestational sac is found implanting outside the uterus, ectopic pregnancy should be considered. Ectopic pregnancy is not a hereditary disease, nor is it an infectious disease. It occurs when a woman's fallopian tubes are narrowed, blocked, or not functioning properly, or when the quality of sperm and eggs is poor, preventing them from implanting normally in the uterus, resulting in an abnormal pregnancy.
