Features: Feng Xiaogang's I Dedicate My Youth to You was written during the gap between the creation of the script for The Cellphone and its shooting. The time was tight, and the task was heavy, but it had a unique charm. Like other quasi-autobiographies, it tells of many people and things from the past and the emotions associated with them. Things change, or people may even pass away, and the feelings differ when saying goodbye and trying to reconnect. Unlike other quasi-autobiographies, while the author hesitates and avoids facing the past, he narrates a principle to us: growing up in the sound of "no" allows one to carve out their own path and create a new life and artistic journey.
Feng Xiaogang once said that in the past, the grand palace he built had no place for him, so he had to start a new furnace and build a side room next to it. But as more and more side rooms were built, they grew larger and taller, eventually forming a courtyard that became another grand palace. While transforming decay into wonder, Feng Xiaogang is also skilled at turning the sublime into the ordinary. In the preface he wrote for this book, he says, "Friends, there's nothing else—just offering up my youth for your amusement."
