What are the characteristics and manifestations of endometritis?

Patient's question:

Recently, I've noticed abnormal discharge, an increase in discharge, and a bad odor. Additionally, I've been experiencing menstrual cramps during my period, which I never had before. I'm wondering if I might have a gynecological infection, could it be endometritis? Should I seek treatment?

Doctor's answer:

1. Pelvic area pain: Approximately 40% of patients report lower abdominal fullness and aching pain in the lumbosacral region during the intermenstrual period.
2. Increased leukorrhea: Caused by enhanced secretion of endometrial glands. It is usually thin and watery, pale yellow, and sometimes bloody.
3. Menorrhagia: The menstrual cycle remains regular, but the volume of flow increases significantly, with a markedly shortened bleeding phase. Only a very small number of patients may develop anemia due to excessive bleeding, possibly caused by endometrial thickening and inflammatory congestion. Irregular spotting is uncommon, and in some cases, it may stop after a few hours or persist for 1–2 days.
