4. In this dictionary, if an initial character has entries in the Shuowen Jiezi, they are listed to the left of the initial character. If there are no entries in the Shuowen Jiezi, the space remains blank.
5. The compilation of this dictionary is primarily from the perspective of learning and appreciating calligraphy and seal carving art. For brevity, in addition to arranging characters in chronological order by era, the era of each character is not noted below. Therefore, the characters listed under the "(Tao)" identifier are from Shang and Zhou to Qin and Han periods, appearing on pottery and other ceramic fragments; the characters listed under the "(Wa)" identifier are from the Han period, appearing on roof tiles; the characters listed under the "(Zhuang)" identifier are from the Han to Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, as well as a small number of Tang Dynasty brick inscriptions.
6. For variant characters with the same source, only the source is marked after the final "mei" character, using abbreviations. For detailed information, refer to the Abbreviated and Full Titles Cross-Reference Table.
7. Unidentifiable characters are listed in the appendix for future research.
