Features: In the past two decades, especially since the 1990s, with the changes in international political, economic, and social environments, as well as advancements in science and technology—particularly the rapid development of computer and network technologies—the rise of the knowledge economy has had a profound impact on business management worldwide. New management concepts, theories, and methods have emerged. To reflect these recent developments in business management, we have compiled this dictionary. It not only encompasses traditional management knowledge and experience but also includes new content on recent advancements in business management. As a comprehensive and practical reference book, it meets the needs of economists, business managers, university faculty and students, as well as other theoretical and practical professionals engaged in business management learning, research, and practice.
It should be said that under the current circumstances of highly active thinking, rapid changes in academic perspectives, and extremely busy work schedules, organizing a team of experts to compile this dictionary has been quite challenging. However, to meet reader demands and promote the flourishing of economic science, especially to advance the development of business management as a discipline, the Institute of Industrial Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Economic Science Press made the decision to compile and publish this dictionary after multiple studies.
This dictionary is edited by Professor Chen Jiagui, a renowned economist and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, as the chief editor. Editorial committee members include representatives from the Institute of Industrial Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Economic Science Press, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, and Capital University of Economics and Business. The Management Research Office of the Institute of Industrial Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is responsible for the overall compilation and coordination of the dictionary.
The Comprehensive Dictionary of Business Management is divided into eleven sections: Section "Enterprise," Section "Business Management Theory," Section "Business Strategy, Planning, and Decision-Making," Section "Business Organization," Section "Labor and Personnel Management," Section "Financial Management," Section "Marketing Management," Section "Production Management," Section "Quality Management," Section "Research and Development," and Section "Business Management Methods." The entire dictionary contains over 1,000 entries, with an average of more than 100 entries per section. The entries are a mix of long and short, with long entries generally not exceeding 1,000 words and short entries at least 200 words. The entry design is hierarchical.
