Features: Since the publication of The Art of Craftsmanship, it has been reprinted multiple times. At the same time, I have received numerous positive reviews from people in the craft industry about this book. Now I am even more confident in my initial assumption: the universal methods presented in this book are applicable to both beginners and those with experience in the craft industry. When the book was first published, there were few books on running a craft business on the market. But since then, books on crafts have been published endlessly, some focusing on specific aspects of craft businesses, while others concentrate on the production processes of particular crafts. The uniqueness of this book lies in providing a comprehensive blueprint for starting and running a craft shop. Regardless of the environment you work in or the scale of the craft business you operate, this book offers detailed advice. It covers all important areas of the craft industry, including part-time individual operations and large factories or rural crafts. The book also delves into the challenges small craft businesses face during expansion. In this edition, I have expanded the content and added a chapter on online sales of crafts. Overall, I have also included some new information. In recent years, the North American economy has undergone many changes, but one thing remains unchanged: crafts continue to be popular. According to a recent survey by the Craft Organization Managers Association, the annual output value of the craft market in the U.S. economy is approximately $14 billion. The number of people working in the craft industry has grown rapidly. This has led to intense competition among craft practitioners to some extent, but the craft industry across North America continues to grow. Part of the reason is that customers are becoming more knowledgeable about crafts, which has increased their appreciation for handmade products. The growing popularity of crafts has also driven improvements in craft production. Now, the quality of crafts in Canada and the U.S. far exceeds what it used to be. In recent years, mass-market manufacturers have tried to profit from the craft trend by copying others' designs and selling large quantities of cheap imitations. Some craft practitioners view this as an urgent problem to address, while others see it as an opportunity and challenge to expand the market for original craft products. It is certain that these opportunities and challenges point to the exciting prospects of the craft industry. – Author
