Can I still get pregnant after an ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I've been married to my husband for three years. In the first year of our marriage, I got pregnant once, but it was an ectopic pregnancy and miscarried. It's been so long since then, and there haven't been any signs of pregnancy again. Both our families are a bit anxious, and I'm a little worried that my previous ectopic pregnancy experience might have affected it. Could you please tell me if it's possible to get pregnant after an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

A history of ectopic pregnancy, most of which is proven to have chronic tubal inflammation. This condition may lead to the recurrence of tubal blockage. Therefore, if the duration is long and pregnancy does not occur, it is considered secondary infertility. In most cases, this is likely due to tubal blockage. Tubal irrigation or contrast examination can be performed to further determine if there is a blockage. If there is a tubal blockage, most women can become pregnant after a recanalization surgery.
