Does pelvic effusion cause ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I had a thorough physical examination at the hospital last month. Last week, when my health check-up results came out, I found that there was fluid accumulation in my pelvis. Right now, it's the right time for me to have a child, and I'm also planning to have one. I would like to ask the doctor if pelvic fluid accumulation can lead to ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Generally speaking, pelvic effusion does not cause ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is more likely caused by chronic tubal inflammation. However, if pelvic effusion is left untreated, it may indirectly lead to chronic tubal inflammation. Therefore, it is more appropriate to consider pregnancy after the condition is fully treated. Rest more, avoid fatigue and staying up late, and prevent prolonged sitting or standing. A combined treatment approach of traditional Chinese and Western medicine can be used for symptomatic treatment.
