In the eerie old mansion, Waka witnesses the gruesome scene of a 11- to 12-year-old boy, Koda Kazuya, hanging suspended in the air. What baffles him is that Kazuya's father, Koda Shigetsune, is secretly watching his expression from the side. Although the police confirm that Kazuya died by suicide, the doubts in Waka's mind never fade. Because Koda's couple took out a child insurance policy for Kazuya with a coverage of 5 million yen. When he learns that Shigetsune is Kazuya's adoptive father, he cannot help but worry about the safety of Shigetsune's wife, Koda Yuko. He writes an anonymous letter to Yuko, urging her to be cautious. Unbeknownst to him, this brings disaster: first, he receives relentless silent calls, then the head of his fiancée's cat is cut off and thrown at his doorstep, his fiancée is kidnapped, and he himself is plunged into a frenzied pursuit
