Features: Income distribution and social security are two prominent fields in China's socio-economic development process. Research in these areas by the theoretical academic community has provided a corresponding theoretical background for the reform of China's income distribution and social security systems. The publication of this book aims to comprehensively reflect the intellectual trends of academic research in these fields in recent years and to offer readers a valuable and concise compilation of reference materials. The papers included in this collection primarily represent research achievements published between 1998 and 2001. In terms of content, they mainly focus on China's current income distribution issues and the reform of its social security system, with an emphasis on policy research. The selection criteria prioritize representative papers on income distribution and social security that were originally published or reprinted in the journals Labor Economics and Labor Relations and Social Security System, both sponsored by the Renmin University of China News and Periodicals Data Center and organized by the School of Labor and Human Resources at Renmin University of China. A small number of relevant papers from influential newspapers and magazines have also been appropriately included. During the editing and publishing process of this book, the editorial offices of Labor Economics and Labor Relations and Social Security System sent consultation letters to the candidate authors (or authors), who expressed strong support or had no objections. Therefore, we should thank the authors of each paper for their support! At the same time, Yi Dinghong and Li Linguo, who were responsible for the preliminary selection of papers for this book, have done considerable meticulous work for its publication. We are equally grateful to them! We hope that the publication of this book will attract more people to pay attention to and study the reform of China's income distribution system and the reform of its social security system, and to make their own theoretical contributions to these two systems, which are of great national importance and have a particularly significant impact.
