(3) Professional and Scientific Responsibility Psychologists' behavior should conform to professional standards. They should understand their professional functions and responsibilities, take responsibility for their actions, and their work methods should meet the needs of different individuals. Psychologists should cooperate with other colleagues or professional organizations, learn from each other, so as to better serve patients and clients. In addition to not failing others in professional responsibility, psychologists' ethical standards are no different from those of others. Psychologists are very concerned about the ethical judgments of their colleagues in scientific and professional activities. Under appropriate conditions, they can communicate with colleagues to eliminate negative impacts.
(4) Respect for Human Dignity and Rights Psychologists should respect the fundamental rights, dignity, and value of all people. They must respect individuals' privacy, trust, autonomy, independence, and rights of thought, even though these rights may sometimes conflict with the law or other duties. Psychologists must be aware of cultural, individual, and role differences, including age, gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, religious beliefs; sexual orientation, disability, language, and socioeconomic status. They should strive to eliminate biases arising from these factors in their work and should not deliberately ignore them.
(5) Concern for Others' Welfare Psychologists aim to benefit others through their professional activities. In their professional work, they should pay attention to patients, clients, students, research participants (subjects), managers, and others involved. Even the rights and welfare of animal subjects should be considered, and harm to them should be minimized as much as possible. Psychologists should be aware of the power differences between themselves and others and should not abuse this power during or after professional activities to mislead others.
(6) Social Responsibility Psychologists have a scientific or professional responsibility to the communities or societies they serve. They use their psychological knowledge to serve the public, care about and alleviate people's suffering, and contribute to the welfare of humanity and psychological science through research. Psychologists should abide by the law and promote laws and social policies that better meet the needs of patients, clients, and the public. Psychologists should dedicate more time to serving vulnerable groups in society.
4.3.2 China's Regulations on Psychological Testing and Ethical Standards for Psychological Test Workers
The Chinese Psychological Society formulated the "Regulations on Psychological Testing (Trial)" and the "Ethical Standards for Psychological Test Workers" in 1992. These regulations should be followed during the use of psychological testing.
Regulations on Psychological Testing (Trial)
Psychological testing refers to the measurement tools that have the functions of consultation, assessment, and prediction in areas such as intelligence differentiation, individualized instruction, talent selection, career guidance, and clinical diagnosis. Any Chinese Psychological Society members or institutions involved in the development, use, or sale of psychological tests have the responsibility to maintain the healthy development of psychological testing. Those engaged in psychological testing work must comply with these regulations.
I. Registration and Certification of Tests
1. All psychological tests developed, revised, implemented, or sold by individual or collective members of the Chinese Psychological Society must apply for registration and certification with the Professional Committee of Psychological Measurement of the Chinese Psychological Society (non-members may also apply).
2. The Professional Committee of Psychological Measurement only recognizes standardized tests that have been scientifically and systematically validated and certified and grants them registration and certification. Registered tests will be assigned unique identification numbers and regularly published in the Acta Psychologica Sinica, the journal sponsored by the Chinese Psychological Society.
II. Qualification Certification for Test Users
3. Graduates with a bachelor's degree or higher in psychology or those with more than two years of testing experience under the guidance of a psychological measurement expert may obtain qualification certification for test use.
4. Qualification certification for test users will be issued by the Professional Committee of Psychological Measurement for psychological measurement training programs that are registered and recognized by this committee.
5. Those who have undergone specialized training in psychological measurement training programs and obtained qualification certification are eligible to use tests. The qualification certification for test users is divided into two types: single-test qualification certification and multi-test qualification certification.
III. Control and Management of Tests
6. Any psychological test must clearly specify its scope of use, implementation procedures, and the qualifications required for test users, and these details must be thoroughly described in the test manual.
7. Test users with qualification certification may purchase and use the corresponding psychological test materials and are responsible for their proper storage.
8. Test users must strictly follow the instructions in the test manual when using tests. When using psychological tests as a reference for diagnostic or decision-making purposes, test users must select appropriate tests and take necessary checks. Test records and written reports should be kept for reference.
9. Any Chinese Psychological Society member or institution that revises or sells someone else's psychological test must first obtain the consent of the test's supervisory unit or author. Institutions responsible for printing, distributing, and selling test materials must register with the Professional Committee of Psychological Measurement and may only sell test materials to those with qualification certification.
10. To ensure the scientific validity and practical value of standardized tests, their content and materials must not be published in any non-professional publications.
11. These regulations shall come into effect upon approval by the Chinese Psychological Society and shall be amended and interpreted by the Professional Committee of Psychological Measurement of the Chinese Psychological Society.
