Patient's question:
Recently, I've been experiencing discomfort on both sides of my lower abdomen, with pain and cramps. It's been going on for a week, and I don't want to go to the hospital for a thorough examination. Now it's getting worse. Today, I went to the hospital for an ultrasound examination, and the result was an ovarian cyst. Can ovarian cysts be treated? What should I do if I have an ovarian cyst?Doctor's answer:
Ovarian cysts are usually asymptomatic. Only in cases where the cyst is particularly large or has developed inflammation again will there be a sensation of pain. Under normal circumstances, ovarian cysts do not cause any discomfort. Ovarian cysts can be either physiological or pathological. Physiological cysts generally shrink or disappear on their own. Follow-up examinations every three months are recommended to monitor any changes in the cyst. Pathological cysts, however, may require surgical removal.
