[Location and Area] Fujian Province (abbreviated as Min) is located on the southeastern coast of China. It covers an area of over 120,000 square kilometers.
[Administrative Divisions] 3 regions, 20 cities, and 50 counties.
[Nationality and Population] Han, She, Hui, Miao, Man, Gaoshan, and other ethnic groups, with a total population of 3.01 million.
[Topography] Four regions:
- Northern Fujian Mountains (Wuyi Mountains' northern section, Shangle Ridge)
- Southern Fujian Mountains (Wuyi Mountains' southern section)
- Eastern Fujian Mountains (Daiyun Mountains)
- Southeastern Fujian Hills and Coastal Plains (Zhangzhou, Xiamen, Putian, and Xianping plains).
The highest peak in the province: Huanggang Mountain at 2,158 meters (located in the Wuyi Mountains on the Fujian-Jiangxi border).
[Major Rivers] Min River, Jiulong River, Ting River (the upper source of Guangdong's Han River), Jinjiang River, etc.
[Temperature and Precipitation] Average temperature in January: 7–13°C; in July: 28–30°C (below 28°C in northern mountainous areas). Average annual precipitation: 1,200–2,200 mm.
[Forestry and Mineral Resources] Forest area exceeds 27,000 square kilometers, with main tree species including pine, fir, camphor,, eucalyptus, mangrove, and bamboo. Mineral resources include coal, iron, manganese, molybdenum, graphite, bauxite, alum, porcelain clay, pyrophyllite, and sea salt.
[Agriculture and Water Conservancy] Since liberation, efforts have been made to combine mountain management, water control, and farmland improvement. Over 600 large, medium, and small reservoirs have been built, along with hundreds of thousands of small water conservancy projects. More than 1.6 million horsepower of mechanical irrigation and drainage equipment has been installed, and over 2,000 rural small hydropower stations have been constructed.
[Agricultural Products] Rice, wheat, sweet potatoes, sugarcane, peanuts, rapeseed, and flue-cured tobacco. Subtropical fruits such as lychee (also known as guìyuán, with the highest production and quality in China), citrus, lychee, olive, and pomelo. Tea (the province is renowned for its tea varieties, including Wuyi Rock Tea, Anxi Tieguanyin, Fuzhou Jasmine Tea, and Keemun Black Tea). Lotus seeds (the "Jianlian" from Jianning and Jianyang are popular both domestically and internationally). Forest specialties include bamboo shoots, mushrooms, Tremella fuciformis, and pine resin. Medicinal herbs include alisma orientale, Chinese bayberry, curcuma, and Shenqu.
[Industrial Products] Machinery, steel, coal, chemical fertilizers, cement, plastics, boards, newsprint, sugar, and canned foods. Traditional handicrafts include Fuzhou's batik lacquerware, horn combs, umbrellas, and Shoushan stone carvings; Xiamen's lacquered brocade sculptures, Dehua ceramics; and bamboo products from Nanping, Gutian, Fuzhou; as well as rattan products from Liancheng, Zhangping, Longyan, and Shanghang.
[Transportation and Infrastructure] Since liberation, efforts have been made to improve the province's isolated transportation network. Railways such as Yingtan-Xiamen, Nanping-Fuzhou, and Zhangping-Longyan have been constructed, along with numerous highways. The province now has over 29,000 kilometers of highway, a 10-fold increase since before liberation, with over 90% of townships connected by road. The navigable waterways for ferries and barges have also increased more than twofold. In recent years, civil aviation routes have been opened between Fuzhou and Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
[Key Cities]
Fuzhou: The provincial capital and the largest industrial city. With Mawei as its foreign port, it has been an important port for foreign trade since ancient times.
Xiamen: A major port on the southeastern coast and one of China's economic special zones.
Quanzhou: A famous overseas Chinese hometown in southeastern Fujian and one of China's largest foreign trade ports in history.
Zhangzhou: An industrial and commercial city in the Jiulong River basin, with a developed food industry.
Nanping: An emerging industrial city along the middle reaches of the Min River, with a developed forest industry.
Sanming: A steel industrial base in central Fujian and an emerging industrial city.
[Revolutionary History Sites]
"Gutian Conference" Site: Located in Shanghang County, Longyan Prefecture, western Fujian. In December 1929, the Red Fourth Army led by Mao Zedong and Zhu De held the Ninth Party Congress here, known as the Gutian Conference. A memorial hall has been established. Nearby is the former site of Mao Zedong's unit investigation before the conference—the New Quan Yuncao Room in Xinqian County.
Jiaoyang Wenchang Pavilion, Shanghang County: The site of the First Conference of the Communist Party of Fujian in western Fujian, where Mao Zedong personally guided the meeting in July 1929. Nearby, in Sujiapo, is Mao Zedong's former residence.
Caixi Survey Site: Caixi in Shanghang County was a model village during the Second Revolutionary War, where Mao Zedong personally conducted an investigation and provided guidance. A Glory Pavilion has been built near the survey site. Nearby is the former site of the Fujian Western Division Land Distribution Conference—Nanyang Longtian Academy, where Mao Zedong participated.
Chishi Uprising Site: The Wuyi Mountains in Chong'an were the revolutionary base of the northern Fujian people. The 1942 Chishi Uprising of the New Fourth Army shook the nation.
Southern Fujian Revolutionary Relics Exhibition Hall: Located in Longxi Agricultural School in Zhangzhou, it houses Mao Zedong's former residence during the 1932 establishment of the southern Fujian revolutionary base.
"Xingeng Villa" in Changting: Mao Zedong's former residence during the 1929 establishment of the western Fujian revolutionary base.
[Scenic and Historical Sites]
Gulangyu: A scenic island in southwest Xiamen, known as the "Garden on the Sea." It features historical sites such as Guancheng Rock, where the national hero Zheng Chenggong trained his naval forces and stationed troops, and the Sunlight Rock. A Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall has been established.
Yushan, West Lake, and Gushan: Tourist attractions in Fuzhou, each with their own landmarks—Chao Feng Peak, Qi Gong Temple, Gui Zhai, He Ting, Ka Hua Temple, Yongquan Temple, Eighteen Caves, and Lion Peak.
Luoyang Bridge and Anping Bridge: Two Song Dynasty bridges in the Jinjiang region. Luoyang Bridge is a famous beam-structured stone bridge. Anping Bridge, also known as the Five-Li Bridge, is the longest ancient bridge remaining in China.
Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area: A renowned scenic and health resort in southern Wuyi City, with the winding Jiuxi River surrounded by emerald waters and crimson cliffs, offering breathtaking views.
