Features: Guangdong, abbreviated as "Yue," is located south of the Nanling Mountains and on the coast of the regional sea. During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, it was part of the Baiyue (Yue) region. The Qin Dynasty established the Donghai Commandery, the Tang Dynasty was part of the Lingnan Circuit, the Song Dynasty was part of the Eastern Circuit of Guangnan, the Yuan Dynasty was mostly under the Jiangxi Provincial Administration, and the Qing Dynasty was the Guangdong Province. Currently, it administers 21 prefecture-level cities, 33 county-level cities, 43 counties, and 3 autonomous counties. Nearly 30 cities and counties are open to the outside world. The province covers an area of over 180,000 square kilometers. It has ethnic groups such as Han, Yao, Zhuang, Hui, Manchu, and She. The provincial capital is Guangzhou. The province has a long coastline, with extensive hills covering about two-thirds of its area. The northern part of the province is the Nanling Mountains, and it includes famous scenic mountains such as Luofu, Xiqiao, Dinghu, and Danxia. The coastal areas feature the Pearl River Delta and the Chaoshan Plain. The Pearl River system originates from the West River, North River, and East River. The Leizhou Peninsula in the southwest is tropical, while the rest of the province is predominantly subtropical humid monsoon climate. Except for the northern mountainous areas, there is no snow or ice that melts all year round, with annual rainfall exceeding 1,500 millimeters. Typhoons occur between summer and autumn.
