Is it okay to do moxibustion when menstrual flow is light?

Patient's question:

Recently, I also don't know what's going on. My menstrual flow is really getting less and less. How to moxibustion when the menstrual flow is low?

Doctor's answer:

Generally speaking, for cases of reduced menstrual flow, from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, this is mainly caused by cold congealing blood stasis or, alternatively, some deficiency of qi and blood. For such conditions, if you wish to seek treatment, it is recommended that you consider taking oral medications such as Ai Fu Nu Gong Wan (Ai Fu Warm Palace Pills) or Yimucao Granules. However, if you choose to take traditional Chinese medicine, it is best to consult a TCM doctor at a hospital first.
As for moxibustion, it is primarily used for symptomatic relief. Locally, you can target acupoints such as Qihai, Guanyuan, or Sanyinjiao.
