Features: This textbook covers all mass transfer separation unit operations. Compared to the original book, it has added adsorption, crystallization, and membrane separation. It reflects recent advancements in chemical engineering in traditional separation technologies, such as the inclusion of liquid-liquid equilibrium and multiphase equilibrium calculations; reactive distillation, salt addition distillation; and new content on multicomponent multistage separation, including the internal-external method and non-equilibrium stage models. Chemical Mass Transfer and Separation Processes is a 21st-century course textbook approved by the National Education Ministry of China. It is suitable for undergraduate separation engineering courses in chemical engineering and technology. This textbook is based on the jointly compiled Chemical Separation Processes (1995 edition) by Chen Hongfang and Liu Jiaqi. It retains some chapters from the original book while making significant updates and expansions in both organization and content. The textbook covers all mass transfer separation unit operations, with added topics such as adsorption, crystallization, and membrane separation. It also introduces emerging separation technologies with important application prospects, such as supercritical fluid extraction, reverse micelle extraction, aqueous two-phase extraction, and pervaporation. The book is divided into 10 chapters, including: Introduction; Single-Stage Equilibrium Processes; Multicomponent Distillation and Special Distillation; Gas Absorption; Liquid-Liquid Extraction; Strict Calculations for Multicomponent Multistage Separation; Adsorption; Crystallization; Membrane Separation; Selection and Scale-Up of Separation Processes and Equipment. Each chapter includes numerous examples and exercises. The appendix at the end of the book introduces the use of Aspen Plus chemical software. This textbook is also suitable for engineers engaged in research, design, and production in industries such as chemical, petrochemical, metallurgy, light industry, environmental protection, and water treatment.
