Patient's question:
My best friend got a very rare type of erythema nodosum. She said that since getting sick, her menstruation has been irregular. I often have irregular menstruation too. Could it also be lupus? Hello, does lupus cause irregular menstruation?Doctor's answer:
Lupus does not directly cause menstruation. Skin lesions can transform into nodules or plaques located in the deep dermis or subcutaneous fat. The size and number are irregular, with normal or slightly altered surface color and firm, non-fluid consistency. Lesions can recur on any part of the body, most commonly on the cheeks, buttocks, and hands, followed by the calves and chest. Chronic lesions can persist for several months to two years, with the skin remaining swollen and indented after scarring. Deep lupus can occur alone or transform into discoid lupus or systemic lupus, or both can coexist.
