Features: "The Handbook of Heavy Non-ferrous Metal Smelting Design" is a comprehensive reference book that summarizes China's four decades of experience in the design, construction, and production of heavy non-ferrous metal smelting. The book is divided into four volumes and twelve sections, covering copper-nickel (including cobalt recovery), lead-zinc-bismuth, tin-antimony-mercury and precious metals, as well as smelting flue gas dust collection and common engineering data. Each section details the extraction processes and technologies for various heavy metals and associated elements, organized by raw materials, technical operating conditions, products, technical economic indicators, major equipment selection, configuration reference diagrams, and necessary metallurgical calculations. It collects a wealth of technical data and case studies for readers to reference and select.
The copper, lead, and zinc sections of this handbook introduce traditional processes, while the copper smelting section also includes China's own flash smelting furnace for copper and modern large-scale copper electrowinning technology. The lead smelting section features the oxygen bottom-blown process and pyrometallurgical refining, while the zinc smelting section includes large vertical retorts, blast furnace zinc smelting, and hydrometallurgical iron technology. The nickel smelting section focuses on large electric furnaces and modern flash smelting furnaces for nickel, while also compiling China's independently researched and designed technologies for ammonia leaching and hydrogen reduction of nickel powder from nickel oxide ores.
The tin smelting section covers reverberatory furnaces, electric furnaces, pyrometallurgical and electrowinning refining, flue gas volatilization, and chlorination volatilization. The antimony smelting section primarily focuses on blast furnace volatilization smelting, reverberatory furnace reduction smelting, and refining, while also including direct shaft furnaces and some antimony product production technologies. The mercury smelting section includes electric heat rotary distillation furnaces, fluidized bed roasting, traditional blast furnace smelting, crude mercury refining, and high-purity mercury purification. The precious metal smelting section covers conventional cyanidation, carbon-in-leach, resin-in-leach, heap leaching, gold extraction from gold-bearing sulfide ores, gold extraction from antimony concentrate, treatment of anode slime in heavy metal electrowinning, and platinum group metal extraction from nickel concentrate. It also provides information on recovering gold and silver from waste materials.
The smelting flue gas dust collection section includes the properties of flue gas from various smelting furnaces and kilns, dust collection processes, and equipment, systematically summarizing China's dust collection facilities for heavy non-ferrous metal smelting. The general engineering section primarily covers plant-wide common engineering such as coal preparation, workshop oil supply facilities, waste heat utilization, high-pressure blower rooms, air compressor stations, and plant analysis rooms. The common data section includes physical and chemical data, codes, and standards commonly used in heavy non-ferrous metal smelting process design.
This handbook also includes environmental protection technologies closely related to process design, such as cyanide wastewater treatment, mercury toxicity prevention, and noise protection.
