Features: With the advancement of China's socialist modernization, cultivating millions of specialized talents through high-quality higher education to meet the challenges of the new century is the foundation of the "Education Revitalizes the Nation" strategy and a crucial guarantee for achieving the goals of the 10th Five-Year Plan. To effectively strengthen undergraduate teaching in universities and improve teaching quality, the Ministry of Education issued a document in 2001 proposing 12 suggestions to guide university teaching in terms of awareness, management, faculty development, teaching methods, and teaching tools. The document emphasizes that, in line with the requirement of "Education should face modernization, the world, and the future," undergraduate education should create conditions to use English and other foreign languages for teaching public and professional courses to adapt to the challenges of economic globalization and internationalization of science and technology. Guided by the spirit of the document, a trend of using foreign textbooks for teaching activities has emerged in ordinary universities nationwide, especially in key universities. Fields such as biotechnology and engineering, environmental science and engineering, material science and engineering, and chemical technology and chemical engineering, as important components of the foundational theories of these disciplines, are among the most active areas in this trend. Under the guidance and support of the Ministry of Education's "Research and Practice on the Cultivation Plan and Teaching Content System Reform of Chemical Engineering Majors" project team, the "Research and Practice on the Cultivation Model, Teaching Content, Teaching Methods, and Teaching Technology Reform of Innovative Talents in Chemical Engineering Majors" project team, and the "National Undergraduate Chemical Engineering and Technology Teaching Guidance Committee," Chemical Industry Press promptly launched the project to introduce renowned textbooks from prestigious universities abroad. The publishing house sent editors multiple times to study and investigate abroad, conducting research on famous universities through foreign publishing research institutions and collecting a large number of textbook topics from internationally renowned institutions. They also liaised with experts and scholars from key domestic universities to establish the "Evaluation Committee for Renowned Textbooks from Foreign Universities," which conducted comparative research on undergraduate teaching in foreign and domestic universities, reviewed and evaluated the quality of textbook content, and then decided whether to introduce them. They have established connections with many renowned publishing institutions abroad, some of which have established long-term cooperative relationships, to stay updated on the publishing trends of excellent textbooks worldwide. Leveraging its advantages in the field of chemical and chemical engineering, Chemical Industry Press's textbook imports primarily focus on majors such as chemistry, chemical engineering and technology, environmental science and engineering, biotechnology and engineering, material science and engineering, and pharmaceutical engineering. The importation of textbooks for traditional majors like process equipment and control engineering and automation is also being planned.
