Features: In the past decade, ZrO2 composite refractory materials have undergone rapid development and become important materials in the refractory field. Due to the polymorphism of ZrO2 (monoclinic, tetragonal, cubic crystal types) and the associated volume changes, pure ZrO2 cannot be used to manufacture shaped products. However, since the discovery that appropriate additives can stabilize the high-temperature cubic crystal phase of ZrO2 at room temperature, the only factor limiting the application of ZrO2 is its cost. ZrO2 holds a significant position in working technology due to its unique physical properties. In high-temperature technology, it is used as furnace linings, crucibles for smelting, sliding nozzles, continuous casting molds, and more. Due to its high melting point and stable chemical properties, ZrO2 has been widely applied in continuous casting refractory materials in recent years. Dense sintered ZrO2 can also be used to manufacture products such as cutting tools. While stabilizing ZrO2, it also exhibits an important ionic conductivity, which can be used as a solid electrolyte in fuel cells for measuring and controlling oxygen partial pressure, or as a component in oxide heating devices for fuel cells. This book focuses on the balance, production technology, properties, and applications of ZrO2 composite refractory materials.
