Features: In recent years, China's economy has developed rapidly and undergone significant changes. Chinese enterprises have entered the world, and foreign enterprises have entered China. Cross-cultural business communication has increased significantly. As an important tool for communication, English has never been more widespread or important than it is today. University students and business professionals have deeply felt in the tide of commerce that simply speaking a few basic English phrases is far from enough. Learning business English, especially improving reading and listening skills, has become an urgent priority. The Ministry of Education has issued a notice, strongly advocating the use of English or bilingual (Chinese-English) instruction for professional courses, indicating that English learning has moved from generalization to improvement. As the times progress, teaching materials serving social education must also keep pace. Based on these fundamental ideas, I served as the chief editor, gathering teachers from universities such as Beijing Foreign Studies University, Renmin University of China, Liaoning University, Hebei University of Science and Technology, Yanshan University, and Shenyang University to compile this series titled "WTO International Business English Education."
This series includes six parts: International Economic and Trade English Reading and Listening, International Financial English Reading and Listening, Practical International Business English Reading and Listening, International Business Cooperation English Reading and Listening, International Business Management English Reading and Listening, and International Tourism and Leisure English Reading and Listening. The writing of each volume revolves around professional themes, emphasizing training in reading and listening skills in business English, integrating business professional learning with English proficiency development. Therefore, this series is not only suitable as teaching materials for universities in economic and trade, management, business, and English majors but also as self-study materials for university students and business professionals aspiring to engage in modern commerce.
The series consists of 12 lessons, accompanied by audio cassettes, covering topics such as China's entry into the WTO, business characteristics, management processes, starting businesses, international business negotiations, human resource management, marketing management, promotional strategies, risk management and insurance, international business, management and culture, and financial markets. Each lesson focuses on a specific theme, divided into three sections that introduce various aspects of international business activities. Each section is accompanied by relevant exercises, including listening, vocabulary, basic sentence structures, discussion questions, and dialogues, enabling readers to improve their reading, listening, and speaking skills in the context of specific international business scenarios and conversational practice.
To facilitate learning and comprehension of difficult points in the text, the editors of Knowledge Press have also specially added three sections: phonetic annotations of vocabulary, basic sentence structures, and difficult sentences, along with Chinese translations and annotations.
This series is closely tied to the times, featuring up-to-date content and a wide range of themes. As part of a complete series, it is suitable for students in English, foreign trade, business, and economics management majors, as well as adults or self-learners interested in or needing to understand these fields.
