In 1930, the Northwest Scientific Expedition Team, jointly established by Swedish and Chinese scholars, discovered over 10,000 Han Dynasty bamboo slips near the Heicheng Site in the Hexi River Basin of today's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This was the largest number of bamboo slips discovered before the liberation and is particularly valuable. In 1931, these slips were transported to Beijing, where scholars such as Ma Heng and Liu Fu of Peking University conducted their interpretation. In 1932, Mr. He Changqun joined the Peking Library as an editor. He worked together with Mr. Xiang Da, Mr. Lao Gan, and Mr. Yu Xun on the organization and interpretation of these slips, a process that spanned five to six years. The Preliminary Draft of the Interpretation of Han Bamboo Slips is the result of Mr. He Changqun's work at that time.
