In "Dragon and Tiger Iron Chain," the heroine Xu Feihuan, under the orders of her adoptive mother, the (Longmen Heroine) Sai Yinniang, takes the White Tiger Steel Ring to punish the villainous young master Cen Shanyu. However, Xu Feihuan is innocent and naive, unable to distinguish right from wrong, and ultimately falls for Cen Shanyu's tricks, falling in love with him. Cen Shanyu betrays her in the end and gathers people to tie Xu Feihuan up. In the nick of time, Sai Yinniang arrives in a flash and rescues Xu Feihuan. Xu Feihuan cuts off Cen Shanyu's arm and roams the martial arts world with her mother.
"Soul Chain" takes place in the 1920s in Qingdao. A young couple arrives at a inn in Qingdao—Liu Gui, the man, and Xiao Qing, the woman. Xiao Qing was once a young lady from a prominent family in Beiping, while Liu Gui was the family's carriage driver. After falling in love, they are driven out by Xiao Qing's father. In Qingdao, they suffer from poverty and illness. A few days later, Liu Gui abandons Xiao Qing and goes to the South Seas as a laborer. Twenty years later, Liu Gui becomes a wealthy merchant in the South Seas and brings his daughter, Xiang Rong, to Qingdao for medical treatment. At this time, Xiao Qing, driven by necessity, becomes a courtesan. She dreams of Liu Gui helping her and her son, Gao Lin. Gao Lin falls in love with Xiang Rong, but they are unaware of the old grudges between their parents. Thus, a tragedy unfolds.
