Features: Lin Sanzhi is a renowned modern Chinese calligrapher, painter, and poet. He achieved remarkable accomplishments in the art of calligraphy. Specializing in cursive script, he is known as the "Contemporary Sage of Cursive Script." At the age of 8, Lin Sanzhi began his artistic pursuits and devoted nearly a century to tilling the soil of traditional Chinese art. His poetry, calligraphy, painting, and calligraphy were all of extraordinary skill, earning him the reputation of the "Triple Perfection" in poetry, calligraphy, and painting. After the age of 60, he focused solely on cursive script, drawing inspiration from the ancient masters like Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, as well as the Ming and Qing dynasty masters. He infused decades of extensive learning into his brushwork. His cursive script blends the profound strength of stone calligraphy with the elegance of paper calligraphy, combining both softness and rigidity, exuding a vibrant spirit and opening up new horizons. In his time, Mr. Zhao Puchu once praised the masterpieces of Lin Sanzhi's calligraphy: "They rival or even surpass the works of the ancient masters." Yet, one of his self-composed poems perhaps better reflects his artistic pursuit: "Unswayed by the world, I walk alone; delighted in the truth of ink and brush, I write to the depths of my soul, where I am no longer myself, nor does anyone else exist." Lin Sanzhi, a man of humble fame and dedication to art, passed away in Nanjing in 1989. The over 3,000 poems and lyrics, as well as a vast collection of artworks, he left behind have been cherished and treasured by people at home and abroad. On the 105th anniversary of his birth, the Cultural Relics Publishing House, in collaboration with relevant units in Anhui and Nanjing, not only organized this "Lin Sanzhi Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" but also compiled and published the Lin Sanzhi Calligraphy and Painting Collection, which includes 206 of his paintings, 52 calligraphy works, his common seals, life photos, and a chronology of his life.
