Features: During the Eastern Zhou period, the vast region of the middle and lower Yangtze River and its southern areas were the activity zones of the three states of Wu, Yue, and Xu, as well as the small states of Shu and the ancient Yue people. Numerous bronze artifacts have been discovered in Wu and Yue, with their casting techniques, object designs, decorative patterns, and inscribed scripts showing significant innovation and development based on the influence of the Central Plains culture. Although bronze artifacts from the state of Xu are less frequently found, the existing pieces are all finely cast with intricate patterns and elegant inscriptions. The bronze artifacts of the Shu and ancient Yue people, as representatives of regional cultural groups, exhibit distinctive bronze cultural characteristics. This book selects over 150 representative bronze artifacts from the states of Wu, Yue, Xu, as well as the Shu and ancient Yue people, along with 150 bronze gongs unearthed south of the Yangtze River—all of which are outstanding examples of bronze craftsmanship.
