Features: Chinese martial arts have a long history, and over thousands of years of development, they have become increasingly popular both domestically and internationally. With the growth of martial arts, as one of the important styles of wushu, Tai Chi has seen frequent domestic and international exchanges and competition events in recent years, with its technical level continuously improving. Practices in domestic and international Tai Chi competitions have shown that Tai Chi routines have very positive effects on fitness and healthcare. However, as a competition routine, there are aspects such as time, content, structure, and layout that do not fully meet competition requirements, making it urgent to develop standardized competition routines for various styles of Tai Chi. The China Wushu Research Institute places great importance on this compilation work and has proposed key points to be noted in the process of creating competition routines for different styles of Tai Chi: First, it is essential to retain the traditional essence, characteristics, and technical principles of the routines to preserve their traditional nature; second, the routines should be based on human physiological characteristics, promoting physical and mental health and comprehensive development while meeting the requirements of modern sports science; third, they should have a certain level of difficulty, comply with competition rules, and enhance technical proficiency through competitive events. To implement this work, the China Wushu Research Institute organized a writing team for the four-style Tai Chi competition routines. After the routines were compiled, a technical review team was formed, inviting renowned Tai Chi masters for a thorough review. Finally, the China Wushu Research Institute and the China Wushu Association approved and published them. These routines are now compiled into four books. Each style is based on traditional routines while incorporating the essence of previous masters' techniques and referencing a vast amount of literature, featuring numerous advantages and characteristics. The content is rich, the style is prominent, the movements are standardized, the structure is rigorous, the layout is logical, and the difficulty level has been increased. These routines provide a comprehensive physical workout and, due to their movement count, groupings, and time meeting competition rule requirements, are suitable for competitions under the same conditions. The birth of the four-style Tai Chi competition routines is a significant event in the history of Tai Chi development. It will play an important role in the future flourishing of Tai Chi both domestically and internationally.
