The Modern History is edited by Lord Acton, consisting of 14 volumes, published at the beginning of this century. After several decades, in the 1950s, Cambridge University Press published the New Cambridge Modern History, edited by Sir Clark. The new edition remains 14 volumes, totaling approximately 8 million words, covering the history of the world from the Renaissance to the end of World War II, i.e., over four hundred years from 1493 to 1945.
