Features: Tour guides are representative jobs in the tourism industry and an indispensable part of the tourism sector, which has become a consensus among tourism professionals worldwide. With the continuous development of China's tourism industry, the requirements for tour guides have been increasing. Particularly since the 1980s, tourism professionals in China have gradually begun to study tour guiding as a discipline and an art. Tour guiding is a highly practical field, and its theoretical research can only further serve practice as the overall tourism industry develops. In line with this principle and in response to the current tourism development trends, we have compiled this book to present it to readers. The book is divided into nine chapters. Chapter 1 is an overview of tour guiding, elaborating on its definition, brief history, nature and characteristics, the role and status of tour guiding work, and future prospects. Chapter 2 systematically introduces the classification, responsibilities, and quality requirements of tour guides. Chapter 3 is on tour guiding service procedures, discussing various types of tour guiding services and norms in three steps based on their characteristics. Chapters 4 to 8 systematically explore tour guiding art and methods, the principles of tour guiding service quality and handling of certain issues, psychology, and the relationship between aesthetics and tour guiding. The final chapter is on tour guide talent management, analyzing the training and assessment of tour guides as well as the current state of tour guide management in China.
