Newly Composed Thai Grammar

Publish Date: 2001-10-01
Features: This book is divided into two parts. Part (Chapters 1 to 5): Modern Thai Grammar, which summarizes and describes modern Thai using a functional classification, phrase-based, and hierarchical analysis grammar system. This is an attempt by the author, with no precedent in the field of Thai linguistics. We believe that this grammar system not only objectively reflects the linguistic reality of Chinese but also objectively reflects the more concise and rational nature of Thai grammar. The second part (Chapters 6 to 8): Major schools of thought in Thai linguistics, summarizing and introducing the historical development and current status of traditional Thai grammar and structural Thai grammar, opening a small window for students' independent thinking and research. The principle of introduction is: while reflecting the overall outline of the original works as much as possible, highlighting the differences between the schools. The phonetic and orthographic part of the traditional grammar Thai Rules is also introduced in more detail because, in addition to summarizing the general rules of phonetics and orthography, it traces the origins and evolution of the script, revealing the intrinsic relationship between Thai and other languages. These aspects are rarely covered in domestic Thai textbooks.
