Publish Date: 1998-11-01
Features: During his lifetime, Hu Shi had planned to compile and publish a collection of his commentaries and political essays. He had also manually drafted a table of contents for Hu Shi's Commentaries on Current Affairs (included in Volume 12 of Hu Shi's Unpublished Manuscripts and Secret Correspondence) in the 1930s. Some of the commentaries and political essays Hu Shi published were separately included in works such as Hu Shi's Collected Writings, The Human Rights Essays, The Independent Essays, Hu Shi's Commentaries, and We Must Choose Our Direction. This book includes Hu Shi's commentaries, political essays, and various miscellaneous writings, spanning from 1918 to 1960, with the articles arranged in chronological order. Articles already included in Hu Shi's Collected Writings, The Human Rights Essays, and Hu Shi's Speeches are not repeated in this volume.
