Features: When David's book Love Stock Market arrived on my bookshelf with the arrival of spring, I was drawn to the strange yet "thought-provoking" title. Upon closer reading, it occasionally made me chuckle. Those witty stock market analogies, common terms, as well as academic language from sociology, psychology, and other fields, were masterfully woven together by David in a way that made them accessible yet engaging. When it comes to writing being fun, I wholeheartedly agree with David. Fun, delicious, pleasant, beautiful, sweet dreams, and pleasant weather—they are all natural, and even closer to human instinct. For someone to make their writing fun, they must at least possess some wisdom and knowledge. With the title Love Stock Market, David's collection naturally focuses on love. David says, "Love and the stock market have some similarities—they can rise and fall dramatically, giving people an unpredictable feeling." He also says, "There’s no choice but to let women sell their love stocks, and they reveal their opening price, which isn’t low." Originally, while our attention was still lingering on love itself, David took a broader view. In his eyes, love had already acquired something that made it thrilling and heart-stirring. This isn’t a book of love stories but a collection of humorous sketches and essays. In other words, it’s a series of details and slices of love stories. It’s precisely because of the details that it feels vivid and real, and it’s because of the slices that it presents the form and spirit of modern love. Just like the stock market, through simple numbers, it reveals the vastness and constant turbulence within. Since love is a stock market, the bigger the market, the better—it can at least showcase the essence and entirety of love. That’s why the men and women in David’s writing are diverse and varied: "pre-marital, post-marital, bar-hopping, bathroom-bound, singing, dreaming, icy, alcoholic, song-like, poetic, medicinal, feline, shoe-like, and wind-like." He "embraces love" while saying, "True love is like encountering a ghost." When he says, "Love can’t be separated from buns," he still reminds us, "Don’t marry someone else’s bride." These words are still steaming hot, yet he "goes against the grain" by advocating, "If you love her, take her." What’s the secret behind all this? Open Love Stock Market, and you’ll find the answer.
