Features: I learned during my illness that the Guangzhou Art Museum was constructing a large-scale Ma Sicong Art Museum, which will be grandly opened on May 17th, the 90th anniversary of Ma Sicong's birth this year. At the same time, the book "Ma Sicong After Twenty Years," edited by Shan Mai and Ma Ruixue, will also be released on that day. This is a matter that the people of Guangdong and even the entire nation eagerly anticipate and are delighted about.
Mr. Ma Sicong was a patriotic nationalist who loved the people and his country. He was the first violinist, composer, and music educator in China to gain fame both domestically and internationally. In his lifetime, the vast number of works he created and his artistic practice fully demonstrated his deep affection for the people, his hometown, the Communist Party, and his country. Even during the "Ten Years of Chaos," when he was persecuted and driven to despair, he reluctantly went abroad but continued to dedicate himself to creation, never forgetting his beloved compatriots, the mountains and rivers of his homeland, and the vigorous reform and opening-up of his country. He longed every day to return to his homeland to serve it. The people respected and missed him.
After the end of the "Ten Years of Chaos," the government exonerated Mr. Ma Sicong and cleared his name. National leaders once allocated travel expenses for him and his wife to visit various places in the country. Many of his close friends and colleagues in the music world wrote numerous articles in his honor, and professional conferences were held multiple times to study his musical thoughts, actions, and creations. In 1992, the Central Conservatory of Music held a commemorative event for Ma Sicong's 80th birthday and published a commemorative special issue. On his 85th birthday in 1997, a bronze statue of Ma Sicong was erected in the Central Conservatory of Music auditorium, and a special concert featuring his works was held, which was deeply well-received by the public.
