Features: On the centenary of the birth of the beloved Comrade Xiaoping, the renowned Shanghai poet Gui Xinghua's "Song of Deng Xiaoping," created in 1996, has been thoroughly revised, meticulously edited, and newly published. Eight years ago, with the strong support of the Shanghai Municipal Propaganda Department and the advice of the Deng Xiaoping Theory Research Center, this long poem was divided into six chapters. Dongfang Television Station produced and repeatedly broadcast a "television poem" based on the long poem. Zhong Chang Shanghai Company published a recitation cassette and CD. On February 19, 1997, after the passing of Comrade Xiaoping, a large-scale musical recitation event in Beijing was held in his honor, inviting Sun Daolin, Qin Yi, Cao Kefan, Yuan Ming, and Gui Xinghua to recite excerpts from "Song of Deng Xiaoping." After the performance, leaders such as Hu Jintao, Zeng Qinghong, and Ding Guanren, as well as the family members of Comrade Xiaoping, greeted the creators and congratulated them on the success of the event. Later, excerpts from this long poem were recited in various occasions across Shanghai and the rest of the country. The full recitation of the long poem was performed at the Lanxin Theater in Shanghai and the Northern Theater in Harbin, and it became China's first long poem to be published on the internet. For this new edition, Gui Xinghua revised the form of the poem, wrote a new chapter titled "Remembrance," and included many photographs reflecting social life over the past 20 years in the book.
