Brov, Vladilen Georgiyevich, was born on August 7, 1931, in Harbin, China, with his parents being diplomats of the former Soviet Consulate General in Harbin. He graduated from the Chinese Department of the Moscow Oriental University in 1954 and completed his graduate studies at the Institute of Philosophy of the Soviet Academy of Sciences in 1959. Currently, he serves as a Senior Researcher, Doctor of Philosophy, and Professor at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences; a Professor at the Moscow State Linguistic University; a Council Member of the International Confucian Association; and an Advisor to the International I Ching College. He has written over 150 academic works, including six monographs on Chinese history, culture, philosophy, and the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. He has visited China over thirty times. From 1957 to 1959, he studied as a graduate student under Chinese scholars Ren Jiyou and Hou Wailu at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has participated in international academic conferences and seminars held in the Soviet Union, Russia, China (including Taiwan), the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Germany, Vietnam, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, and France.
