In ancient Chinese, food and drink were called "kǒufù, bǔchuò," and in folk terms, they are simply called "eating and drinking." "Kǒufù" means thirsting for drink and hunger for food. "Bǔchuò" refers to chewing food and feeding infants with food and drink. The character "yǐn" can encompass "shí" (food), meaning that drinking includes eating and drinking. The Song Dynasty scholar Wen Ying recorded in "Continued Records of Xiangshan Wild Records": "Su Yijian had a 'drinking party' on his third day of birth." This means that on the third day of Su Yijian's birth, his father hosted a banquet to invite relatives and friends.
