Foot massage is one of the ancient Chinese massage methods and a valuable legacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). According to TCM meridian theory, the twelve main meridians and eight extraordinary meridians all originate from the feet. Specifically, the Taiyin Spleen Meridian, Jaoyin Liver Meridian, Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, Yin Wei Meridian, and Yin Jiao Meridian start from the feet, while the Yangming Stomach Meridian, Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, Taiyang Bladder Meridian, Yang Wei Meridian, and Yang Jiao Meridian terminate at the feet. This shows the close relationship between the feet and meridians. Since meridians connect to the internal organs, massaging the acupoints on the feet can unblock meridians, regulate blood flow and Qi, and adjust the functions of internal organs, thereby achieving the effects of preventing and treating diseases.
