Features: China is the origin of the sericulture industry. Currently, China ranks first in the world in the production of silkworm cocoons, raw silk, and silk products. Sericulture is one of China's competitive industries in agriculture on a global scale. The development of the sericulture industry not only has a significant impact on China's rural economy, agricultural development, and improvement of people's livelihood but also plays a notable role in the development of the global sericulture industry. To adapt to the needs of improving agricultural product quality, enhancing international competitiveness, and increasing the economic benefits of the sericulture industry after China's entry into the World Trade Organization, the standardized production technology of China's sericulture industry is gradually being formed and refined. The author hopes that by writing this book, he can contribute his efforts to the standardized production of China's sericulture industry. During the writing process of this book, the author was based on existing national standards, combined with local standards of high-quality and high-yield silkworm cocoon production bases in Zhejiang Province, and referred to and applied materials from many works as well as professional publications such as Sericulture Science and Technology, Silkworm and Mulberry News, and China Sericulture. The author strives to make it a scientific and rational, advanced and practical, illustrated, and easy-to-understand reference book. However, due to the author's limitations, there may be shortcomings in the book, and the readers are kindly requested to point them out.
Additionally, during the writing process of this book, the Sericulture Industry Product Quality Supervision and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ye Xiayu, a researcher at the Sericulture Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Wu Yizhou, a senior agricultural technologist at the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture, Zhou Jinquan, an agricultural technologist, and Lin Baoyi, another agricultural technologist, provided a large amount of data for the book. Professor Jin Wei of the Department of Special Economic Animal Science at the College of Animal Science, Zhejiang University, Shi Tinghong, a member of the Sericulture Management Center of Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, Dai Jianyi, a senior agricultural technologist at the Sericulture Company of Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, provided a large number of picture materials for the book. The author expresses his heartfelt gratitude to the above scholars, students, and colleagues for their strong support. At the same time, thanks to Teacher Wang Fangwei of the Department of Special Economic Animal Science at the College of Animal Science, Zhejiang University, and Xu Guoqun and other students of the 2000 class of the College of Animal Science, Zhejiang University, for their assistance in text and picture processing.
