Features: This textbook was compiled based on the teaching material development task for the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" issued by the Ministry of Agriculture in 1997, specifically for higher agricultural colleges. The textbook is developed in accordance with the teaching syllabus for "Advanced Mathematics" in higher agricultural colleges and follows the "Basic Requirements for Advanced Mathematics Teaching" (draft) organized by the Basic Discipline Group of the Ministry of Agriculture. It is a reorganized and rewritten version of the original unified textbook for higher agricultural colleges, "Advanced Mathematics" (edited by Pei Xinde).
Advanced Mathematics is a compulsory public course in agricultural colleges, always receiving significant attention due to its strong theoretical foundation and challenging learning curve. Our goal is to compile a high-level textbook for higher agricultural colleges that is scientifically sound, advanced, adaptable, and oriented toward the 21st century.
Based on the development of agricultural science and the needs of agricultural modernization, this textbook balances theoretical systematicity while focusing on practical applications, omitting content that is too advanced and less relevant to real-world use. For fundamental concepts and more abstract theorems, geometric interpretations are used to explain them as much as possible. In terms of content presentation, the textbook adopts a method that progresses from specific to general, from concrete to abstract, from simple to complex, and from easy to difficult, striving for clarity and ease of understanding and mastery.
Practicing exercises is a crucial part of learning advanced mathematics. A good textbook requires a set of exercises that are appropriately sized and appropriately challenging. Based on years of teaching experience, we have carefully selected the exercises. To facilitate teaching organization by instructors and self-study by students, exercises are provided after each section. To help students assess their learning progress, comprehensively review, and consolidate the content of each chapter, self-assessment questions are included at the end of each chapter. Exercise answers are appended at the end of the book.
