Features: Qin Xianmao, who was the first to write "The Legend of Gu Long," has also taken up the pen to write anti-corruption novels. He made a stunning debut: This is a battle of spirit and flesh, an exchange of tears and blood, a clash of love and hate, a life-and-death struggle between justice and evil—a path paved with money, beauty, and power, a treacherous road of prosperity and traps. The entire work is filled with an irresistible, captivating, and enthralling atmosphere. The Red Building, the headquarters of Xinghua Group, the largest private enterprise in Dinghai City, is shrouded in many strange legends. It is often frequented by beautiful women in luxurious cars and high-ranking officials. The story unfolds here, where the executives of Xinghua Group engage in deals of power, money, and sex with corrupt officials, providing a convenient gateway for Xinghua Group's smuggling activities.
When the newly appointed Customs Chief of Dinghai, Zhao Guoqing, took office, he fell into a sexual trap, orchestrated by the General Manager of Xinghua Group, Wang Yufeng, and the former Vice Mayor Luo Mingli, who had already been exposed. Beyond smuggling, Xinghua Group is also involved in drug trafficking, leading to conflicts of interest with local drug lord Bai Gongzi and Hong Kong drug lord Cui Bao. This results in a fierce confrontation and rivalry between the two sides. Bai Gongzi intends to expose a glimpse of Xinghua Group's dark secrets, hoping to use the government's power to eliminate their drug trading competitors. Meanwhile, Xinghua Group's illegal activities have long attracted attention from central and local authorities, as well as ordinary citizens. With the support of the Party Secretary, the government establishes a special task force to investigate Xinghua Group, taking advantage of a drug and gun battle as a pretext.
The upright officials, led by the Criminal Investigation Team Leader Gao Zhensheng and his colleagues, engage in a battle of wits and courage against the smuggling and drug trafficking groups, as well as corrupt officials. With the help of the public, female journalist Du Xiaona, and the Hong Kong police, they exploit internal conflicts within the enemy to dismantle them, ultimately gathering irrefutable evidence and bringing the criminals to justice.
Excerpt: Chapter 14
1 Midnight, the window was gradually drizzling with rain, the night as cold as water. Yang Qingfang sat alone in the spacious bedroom on the seventh floor of the Red Building, yet she felt no urge to sleep. A deep loneliness, like the tide at a distant seaside, slowly rose and spread from her feet to her calves, then her body, as if it were about to engulf her entirely.
Once again, scenes of the past flashed through Yang Qingfang's mind—the child Ding Chunbo, dressed in ragged clothes, shivering in the cold wind, his innocent and bright eyes gazing at her, as if pleading for her tenderness and compassion: "Sister, sister." That familiar and tender voice echoed in the vast and distant sky, startling Yang Qingfang, who jumped to her feet. The illusion vanished, and she returned to reality, a chilling cruelty gripping her heart, making her shiver involuntarily.
Yang Qingfang bit her lips tightly, as if making a firm decision. She abruptly stood up, took heavy steps toward the door, gently opened it, and slipped into the corridor like a ghost. The corridor on the seventh floor of the Red Building was dimly lit by wall lamps, casting an eerie, yellow glow. Though deserted, the silence was suffocating.
Yang Qingfang heard her own heart pounding softly due to tension. She stopped, took a deep breath, and walked steadily toward the General Manager's office. As the General Manager of the Red Building, Yang Qingfang knew every corner of the building intimately. She took out the keys she had prepared earlier, gently unlocked the General Manager's office door, slipped inside, and locked it behind her.
Familiar with the General Manager's office, Yang Qingfang reached the desk, turned on the desk lamp, plugged in the laptop, and quickly typed on the keyboard. Then, she swiftly took out the prepared external hard drive and copied the selected files.
Less than three hours later, Yang Qingfang shut down the computer, unplugged the external hard drive, turned off the desk lamp, and quietly opened the main door, locking it again. Standing in the dim corridor, Yang Qingfang couldn’t help but sigh in relief. Her long-planned scheme had succeeded. She knew the risks she had taken, but she had made up her mind—she would do anything to save her brother Ding Chunbo.
Yang Qingfang quickly headed toward her room when a man's voice came from behind her: "Sister Yang, it's so late, you haven’t slept yet?" Startled, Yang Qingfang froze. She recognized Wang Yufeng's voice.
Wang Yufeng hurried over: "Sister Yang, is there anything I can help with?"
Yang Qingfang tried to appear calm as she replied slowly: "Nothing, Yufeng. I just can’t sleep, feeling restless, so I came out for a walk."
Wang Yufeng said, "Sister Yang, I heard you’ve been unwell lately. You need to take better care of yourself. It’s very cold at night. If you’re not careful, you might catch a cold."
Yang Qingfang replied faintly, "Thank you, Yufeng."
Yang Qingfang walked slowly to her bedroom door and entered.
2 Wang Yufeng stood alone in the corridor, full of suspicion. He checked the surroundings but found nothing unusual. Still uneasy, he took out his keys, unlocked his office door, walked in, and turned on all the lights.
After another thorough check, Wang Yufeng noticed that no files had been touched. He finally felt somewhat at ease, sat down at his desk, and noticed the laptop’s indicator light was still on. He was startled.
Wang Yufeng clearly remembered turning off the laptop’s power when he left the office, yet now the power was connected. He quickly turned on the laptop and checked, his expression growing increasingly grave, his brow furrowing tightly.
He violently pushed the laptop aside, picked up the phone, and dialed the dedicated line to Wang Yongxing’s bedroom.
3 In the bedroom, Wang Yongxing was fast asleep, holding the PR Director of the Red Building, Ouyang Xue. Ouyang Xue, named Director of the PR Department, was actually the mother of the group of prostitutes. Like Yang Qingfang, Ouyang Xue was in her late thirties. Wang Yongxing had once described Ouyang Xue behind her back as "tall, plump, fair, and tender." Though past her prime, Ouyang Xue possessed the unique charm of a mature woman, though compared to Yang Qingfang, her allure was too overt, and her temperament far inferior.
Wang Yongxing liked mature women, a secret well-known in Xinghua Group. Though Ouyang Xue was far less favored by Wang Yongxing than Yang Qingfang, he occasionally sought her out to satisfy his desires. As a madam, Ouyang Xue did not take clients, so Wang Yongxing trusted her completely, believing her cleaner than the younger girls.
Recently, due to Ding Chunbo, Yang Qingfang had been preoccupied and had deliberately avoided Wang Yongxing. Unable to endure it, Wang Yongxing called Ouyang Xue to his room, merely to change his taste.
After an intense physical encounter, Wang Yongxing felt completely relaxed and fell asleep soundly. Little did he know, the phone ringing would wake him.
Though displeased, Wang Yongxing had the skill to keep his voice calm and composed when he picked up the phone, hiding none of his anger.
Wang Yufeng’s anxious voice came through the line: "Chairman, I’m truly sorry, but something seems to have gone wrong again."
Wang Yongxing replied slowly, "Yufeng, don’t hurry. What’s the matter? Tell me slowly."
Wang Yufeng said, "I just noticed someone had been in my office and had accessed some of our company’s secret files."
Wang Yongxing’s voice grew louder: "Yufeng, what’s going on? Our Red Building has strict security—how could anyone get into your office?"
Wang Yufeng thought, "I don’t think this was done by an outsider. It must be an inside job."
Wang Yongxing said urgently, "Who then?"
Wang Yufeng replied, "I suspect Sister Yang. I just saw her alone in the corridor. Besides Da, only Sister Yang can enter my office."
Wang Yongxing, holding the phone, fell silent.
Seeing that Wang Yongxing didn’t respond, Wang Yufeng asked anxiously, "Chairman, what should we do?"
Wang Yongxing said, "Monitor closely, control the situation, and prepare for the worst. Make contingency plans. If necessary, act decisively—cut off the arm to save the body, no matter the cost."
Wang Yufeng said, "Chairman, I know what to do."
