How is female infertility treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine?

Patient's question:

Doctor, I want to go to the hospital for a check-up because I have infertility. I would like to ask if Traditional Chinese Medicine can cure female infertility. Should I decide to have surgery or opt for Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment? Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

Hello, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are three major factors that can lead to female infertility:
1. Cold in the uterus and deficiency of the kidneys
Traditional Chinese Medicine refers to this as: women belong to the yin element, and the uterus is prone to cold. Excess internal cold and yin deficiency, combined with weakness of kidney qi and insufficient kidney essence, lead to deficiency of the (Chong Ren) channels. This disrupts the menstrual cycle and prevents childbirth.
2. Liver qi stagnation and spleen dampness
If emotional distress causes liver qi stagnation and internal dampness due to spleen deficiency, blood vessels become obstructed, qi and blood become unbalanced, and phlegm-dampness accumulates and stagnates. This leads to menstrual disorders and infertility.
3. Blood stasis and qi stagnation
Women are fundamentally based on blood and naturally follow qi. Blood and qi are interdependent and mutually influential. Imbalance of qi and blood, qi stagnation and blood stasis, give rise to all diseases, including infertility. This is how it occurs.
