Features: This collection, selected from the "Sonatina Collection" spanning two centuries of German music, is divided into three volumes. The selected works reflect the development trajectory of piano music from the early 18th century to the late 19th century. The collection is generally arranged chronologically. However, the first few pieces do not follow strict chronological order but are instead replaced by easier compositions to allow students to quickly get started. The other pieces arranged chronologically do not consider difficulty progression.
Volume 1 of the "Sonatina Collection" includes 26 sonatinas from the late Baroque period and the so-called pre-classical period. This collection will help students understand and recognize some features of the original manuscript versions at an early stage of their studies, which are typically familiar only to advanced performers. A characteristic of this era is the extensive use of ornamentation, which is not always familiar to players. Therefore, some important ornaments and performance practices are listed according to the rules followed at the time.
