Features: The first step in professional construction is textbook development, and the first step in textbook development is to write different exercises for various playing techniques of this instrument. After half a century, we are gratified to see that traditional Chinese instruments, represented by the erhu, have successively established a basic textbook system centered on exercises. As a result, the teaching of folk instrumental music has taken a significant step towards a higher level. Of course, due to differences in the length of professional accumulation, the composition of exercises for some instruments has not only laid a preliminary foundation, while others have become quite rich and diverse. In comparison, the erhu profession has always been at the forefront. To my knowledge, erhu teachers in various professional colleges in our country have all achieved remarkable results in this regard. It was through the collective efforts of everyone that this high-level exercise collection by Wang Guotong, Zhang Shao, and Zhou Yaojun first appeared over 20 years ago. It undoubtedly reflects the dedication of the three compilers, but it is also an inevitable outcome of the historical development of erhu professional education.
