Features: Wang Shanshan, styled Ernong, was a great Enlightenment thinker and patriotic figure in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. In his early years, he participated in the anti-Qing movement and followed Prince Guigang in Guangxi. When it became impossible to achieve anything, he retired to Shishanzhao Mountain, burying himself in this secluded place, carrying his grief forever. His study was modestly named: "The Six Classics demand I open a new perspective; seven feet from heaven beg for a burial." This can summarize his life. He wrote hundreds of volumes of works, among which those that best reflect his thoughts include the Huang Shu (Yellow Book), Siwenlu (Records of Inquiry), Annotations to Zhangzi Zhengmeng, Commentary on the Complete Four Books, Wujing Wai Zhuan (External Commentary on the Book of Changes), and Shangshu Yinyi (Meanings of the Book of Documents). This collection of Wang Shanshan's poems and essays is compiled from several of his works; as most of these collections were self-edited by the author, they retain their original form without being rearranged.
