How to check if it is ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

A while ago, a thorough examination revealed that I am pregnant. Recently, I've been feeling uncomfortable, except for the skin peeling. It's been hard to bear, so it's suspected to be an ectopic pregnancy. Now, I'd like to ask how to check if it is an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Blood tests can detect human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to determine if it is an ectopic pregnancy and whether normal development is occurring. If no gestational sac is observed within the uterine cavity but a gestational sac is found outside the cavity, it can be confirmed as an ectopic pregnancy. If ectopic pregnancy is ruled out, mild vaginal bleeding or brown discharge accompanied by or without blood clots, along with the expulsion of early pregnancy products, may sometimes be accompanied by abdominal or back pain, often indicating a miscarriage.
