Innocent Hall Q&A

Author: (Qing) Zhu Youxin, edited by Lü Hongru and Zhang Changfa
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2000-12-01
Features: The Anxiantang Daowan is a representative work of Zhu Youxin, written in a note-taking style and question-and-answer format, compiled from his teachings and responses to questions. Its purpose is to "guide the direction of students" and "seek the common path of both the sage and the ordinary." The discussions on political, economic, military, cultural, and educational issues are "pure, upright, and thorough," with many insightful points. However, his satire of democracy, opposition to mechanization, and criticism of Western medicine and music reveal the conservative side of Zhu Youxin's worldview. This book is based on the Guangya edition published in February 1895 (the 21st year of the Guangxu reign) and supplemented with the Qizhong Congdao body published in July 1896 (the 22nd year of the Guangxu reign). Errors in the printing, taboo characters, and particularly rare variant characters have been corrected as needed. Since the book only contains volume divisions without titles, it is inconvenient for reference. Therefore, we have compiled an index for readers to consult.
