Features: Acupuncture and moxibustion is a discipline that utilizes needles or moxa to prevent and treat diseases, comprising four main parts: meridians, acupoints, acupuncture and moxibustion methods, and acupuncture therapy. It can treat over 300 conditions, with more than 100 proving particularly effective. For thousands of years, this medical technique has made significant contributions to the health of the Chinese people. This art is increasingly being accepted by countries around the world and has become a part of global medicine. The purpose of compiling this small manual is to provide beginners in acupuncture with a shortcut to entry. Except for treatment experiences, the entire book is presented in easily memorable and recitable couplets. In the meridian section, all you need to memorize is a few dozen lines of verse to grasp an overview of meridians. Chapter 2 is on acupoints, where couplets and diagrams are interreferenced—one couplet explaining the location method of an acupoint—making it practical, simple, and aligned with international standards, with sequence numbers noted above each acupoint for easy identification. Among them, the special section on acupoint application teaches clinical methods of using acupoints. Chapter 3 focuses on acupuncture techniques, where a few couplets also reflect the speaker’s long years of insights. Chapter 4 presents the speaker’s acupoint application experiences, often featuring one acupoint for one condition, with immediate and reproducible clinical effects. Chapter 5 contains the "acupoint-taking experiences" of the speaker’s teacher, Professor Yang Jiasan. Professor Yang is a renowned acupuncture expert in China and served as the department head of the Acupuncture and Tuina Department at Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was the first to propose the "three edges, three spaces" characteristics of acupoints, meaning acupoints are often found along the edges of muscles, tendons, or bones ("three edges"), and between muscles, tendons, or bones ("three spaces"). He was also the first to suggest using natural body landmarks and employing a grid system (horizontal and vertical coordinates) to locate adjacent acupoints along meridians and regions, making it easy to understand and master, thus highly suitable for clinical and teaching purposes.
