Patient's question:
What should be done about the left fallopian tube cyst? Four years ago, a left fallopian tube cyst was discovered, while the right side is normal. I have been unable to conceive until now. What should I do?Doctor's answer:
The causes of fallopian tube and ovarian cysts are often due to acute dilation. Inflammation causes adhesion between the fimbriae and isthmus of the fallopian tubes, preventing inflammatory secretions from being expelled, which accumulate to form fallopian tube abscesses. Simple ovarian abscesses are relatively rare. Ovarian abscesses are also often caused by acute fallopian tube inflammation. If acute fallopian tube inflammation occurs again without isolation of the fimbriae, the purulent secretions can flow from the fimbriae to the pelvic cavity, leading to widespread adhesion of pelvic organs. The fallopian tubes and ovaries become trapped within this, and over time, they gradually transform into fallopian tube and ovarian cysts.
