Features: The teaching task of the Chinese-to-Japanese translation course is to impart basic translation theories and commonly used, rule-based methods and techniques to students. Through repeated practice, it aims to cultivate students' translation proficiency. Based on this teaching requirement, the authors, drawing on long-term translation work and teaching experience, have explored some rule-based translation methods and techniques based on a comparison of the two languages. They have compiled this textbook, which is primarily practical, focuses on practice, is equipped with numerous examples and exercises, yet is not limited to mere exercises. This textbook mainly considers various translation methods and approaches from the perspective of translation, without excessive analysis of the linguistic phenomena in the Japanese translations. Translation is a complex and creative endeavor. The same work often yields different translations depending on the translator. Based on a comparative study of the common and typical differences and characteristics of the two languages, the translation methods and techniques proposed in this textbook are intended for flexible application in translation practice and should not be rigidly followed. Similarly, the answers provided by the authors for the exercises in this textbook are not the only answers, serving merely as references for students. This textbook is a Chinese-to-Japanese translation course, and the comparative analysis of the two languages and the translation methods and techniques proposed herein are also valuable for Japanese-to-Chinese translation.
